Lafayette is home base. We build across Boulder County and the communities around it, and we know which building department reviews your address before the first plan gets drawn.
Torres Sustainable Builders is a general contractor working across Boulder County. These are the communities where most of our projects are, and where we know the local review process without having to look it up.
Where we are based and where most of our work happens. Older housing stock around Old Town, newer subdivisions on the east side, and clay-heavy soil across most of it.
Residential remodels and commercial tenant finishes. Its own building division, its own review process, and a mix of older and rebuilt housing.
Newer construction on the whole, which usually means fewer surprises behind the walls and more attention on layout and finish.
Tighter lots, stricter review, and a housing stock that ranges from historic to brand new. Projects here reward planning over speed.
Erie sits across the Boulder and Weld county line, which means the jurisdiction handling your permit depends on which side of town you are on. We check that before anything gets drawn.
An unincorporated community northeast of Boulder, so permitting here runs through Boulder County rather than a city building division.
Not on the list? Call and ask. We take work beyond the core area regularly, and we will tell you straight whether it makes sense for your project rather than driving out to quote something that does not.
Boulder County is not one place to build in. It is a set of jurisdictions with their own rules, and the address decides which one you are dealing with.
Lafayette, Louisville, Superior, and Boulder each run their own building division. Gunbarrel is unincorporated, so permitting there routes through the county instead. Erie sits across the Boulder and Weld county line, which means the reviewing office depends on which side of town the property is on.
None of this is exotic. It is the local knowledge that separates a realistic timeline from an optimistic one, and it is the difference between a permit that clears and one that comes back with corrections. We confirm the reviewing jurisdiction for your address before anything gets drawn.

The other thing that changes lot to lot is what you are building on. The Colorado Geological Survey calls expansive soil the state's most significant geologic hazard, and it runs beneath much of the Front Range corridor.
That is not a scare line. It is the reason a geotechnical report comes before a foundation plan on new construction, and the reason we check moisture history before finishing a basement rather than after.
Two houses four blocks apart can need different foundations, and a basement that has stayed dry for twenty years can still have a drainage problem waiting. Which is why every project starts with someone walking the actual property.

Same scope everywhere we work. The city changes, the process does not.
Every project runs under one contract with one team accountable for it, which is how we have worked since 2018.

Call and ask. It takes thirty seconds, and you will get a straight answer either way rather than a form response three days later.
